Presentation
Once a month, this event invites you to explore an episode from the Des Vignes et Des Hommes (Vines and People) documentary series co-produced by Grand Angle Productions, the Fondation pour la Culture et les Civilisations du Vin and Arte France. The presentation and documentary screening will be followed by a tasting of two wines with a La Cité du Vin sommelier.
During this evening’s documentary screening, ‘Italy: Prosecco, Another Story of Venice’ by Vincent Perazio (colour, 26’, English with French subtitles), you will explore the first foothills of the Dolomites, 80km north of Venice, that have shaped the heart of Prosecco. You will learn how this sparkling white wine – created in around 1870 – became the jewel in the crown of an area proudly described as ‘marca gioiosa’, the happy region. You will discover how goods arrived at and left Venice for ports all over central Europe.
Session presented by Véronique Lemoine, head of Cité du Vin permanent tour and co-author of the book Des Vignes et des Hommes. Quand la Vigne Sculpte le Paysage.
