Divine wine

The Permanent exhibition

In the beginning God gave the vine to Noah, Biblical patriarch and prophet from the Koran. Emerging from the Flood, Noah found land to plant it, and thus became the first winegrower in history.

Since this seminal episode, ‘religions of the book’ have accorded special importance to wine and vine. They have both a physical presence and extremely strong symbolic value.

Fine art, music and literature all offer major works which touch upon the unique position occupied by wine in major religions.

Immerse yourself in wine’s sacred dimension since the dawn of time thanks to a striking mosaic of music, poems and texts. Frescoes, windows, paintings, bas-reliefs and miniatures remind people of this drink’s sacred nature. This is a striking, powerful spectacle spanning centuries and cultures, inviting mediation.
