February 15 to 17: Terroir Weekend in Romania!

From Friday 15 to Sunday 17 February, La Cité du Vin will be taking you to discover the wines of the Carpathians to celebrate the links between France and Romania, two Latin countries with diverse cultures. An evening in costume in the Belvedere, a conference, concert, tasting workshops... a whole weekend of festivities organised as part of the France-Romania Season 2019.

On the programme:

Friday 15 February

8.00pm : Flavours in the Land of Dracula 

Tasting evening in costume and Food and wine pairings at the Belvedere
Come, children of the shadows, and taste the dishes prepared by chef d’Artagnan along with the blood of Carpathian vines!

3.00Pm : Romania, Bacchus’s other country

Screening / meeting
This encounter, preceded by a documentary, offers an opportunity to discover the other side of Romanian winemaking.

La Grande Carriole : Romanian Food Truck 

Street food
In Bordeaux, La Grande Carriole will be stopping off at La Cité du Vin for the weekend, along with chef Ioan Bebeselea (the 2018 Gault & Millau Romania Guide’s Chef of the Year) who will be showing Romanian cuisine in a new light to delight our taste buds.

> There are four dishes to choose from on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February (to take away):
- Cream of vegetable soup flavoured with horseradish and beetroot juice
- Sheep's cheese croquette with cumin seeds
- Borlotti bean puree, smoked sausage and pickles    
- Rose hip jam doughnut

Part of the 2019 France-Romania Season

In France, the 2019 France-Romania Season is being organised and implemented by the Institut Français with the support of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Culture, the Ministry for the Economy and Finance, the Ministry for National Education, the Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry for the Ecological and Solidarity Transition, the Ministry for Sport, the French Embassy in Romania, and the network of Institut Français and Alliance Française institutions in Romania.

N.B : In our newsletter of february, the #wineculture question was: What was Dracula’s favourite drink?

  • The blood of his victims
  • Red wine made from Feteasca Neagra grapes
  • Organic grape juice, it’s easier to digest
