La Cité du Vin, inspiring artists and directors

Published 20 September 2018

It cannot be denied that when we speak of La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, we think, quite rightly, of wine.  An imposing edifice which aims to transmit and spread wine culture across the world.  However, the bold architecture of La Cité du Vin is also a blank canvas, a playground in which all artists can shape their vision.

La Cité du Vin in the spotlight

The strong visual identity of this venue attracted the popular Chinese soap opera Crocodile and Toothpick Bird to Bordeaux, to film within La Cité du Vin. Some sixty people were welcomed here for the shooting.  This long dialogue scene, peppered with a pinch of drama in true soap opera style, was shot within the Permanent Tour. The atypical aspect of the Permanent Tour, with its design, large spaces and modules, lent unquestionable character to this scene. This sequence, led by two Chinese stars, HUANG Yi Lin and WU Hao Chen, will feature in three episodes and will be broadcast on Hunan TV (China’s most popular channel) and the local SVOD platform, Mango TV. A sneak preview of La Cité du Vin for all of China!

The unique design of La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux has led to the birth of numerous projects. From TV series to photography, all projects are possible at La Cité du Vin.

La Cité du Vin unveiled

Two emblematic areas in La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux were used for the photographic compositions of Haze, a professional photographer who specialises in artistic performances, dance and sport.  Before he even arrived in Bordeaux, Haze knew what he wanted to produce.  The aim of his ‘In Motion’ project was to sublimate the performance of a top athlete or dancer in France’s most beautiful buildings.  What better choice for such an ambitious project than La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux? A venue set off to perfection by the mastery and grace of Vanessa Feuillatte, prima ballerina of the Opéra National de Bordeaux and Allegra Bird, vice-champion of French competitive pole-dancing, could only result in a stunning piece of work.

La Cité du Vin has broadened the scope of its events. Events which have come into being in the distinctive atmosphere of La Cité du Vin.
