The most innovative museums have embraced the vast possibilities which digital technology offers and have adapted to the evolution of our society in which the image has become the dominant medium of information and knowledge. Furthermore, recent research in neuroscience and cognitive processes has demonstrated that soliciting emotions (laughter, surprise, wonder, etc.) strongly fosters better and longer-lasting memorisation of knowledge.

On 29 August 2018 La Cité du Vin, which has become an iconic Bordeaux venue, passed the symbolic milestone of 1 million visitors. After 445,000 visitors in 2017, the year 2018 confirms the significant reach of La Cité du Vin on a national and international scale. What lies behind this success?
