The vine-grower's year
Wine is the result of a constant dialogue between humans and nature, which starts with the vine and ends in a glass.
Settle in and let yourself be transported into the everyday life of the winemakers. In this area of the Permanent Exhibition, discover the life and work of winemakers at each period of the year, both in the vineyard and the winery.
In the vineyard, humans must adapt to the forces of nature they are subject to, but which they work with and control. Rain, frost... Come and witness the different challenges facing winegrowers. As the seasons unfold, you will discover the age-old techniques passed down through the generations to cultivate the vine at every stage of its growth.
In spring, see the vine’s rebirth as the buds start to open. In summer, feel the warmth of the sun. In autumn, share the excitement of harvesting, see how each bunch is picked with care to protect the grape and guarantee the wine is of the highest quality possible. In winter, admire the winemakers’ know-how as they prune and care for the vine, preparing the stocks for the coming year.
Experience the life of the vine and tremble before the vagaries of the weather: pruning, collecting the trimmings, pruning again, tying-in, de-budding, lifting up the branches, trimming, leaf stripping… And finally, harvesting. In complete immersion in the winemaker’s world, come and understand and appreciate the techniques and beauty of their profession.
Meanwhile, in the winery, work never stops. From the reception of the grapes to bottling the wine, the winemakers spend many months hard at work. They must fill, measure, punch down, rack… Join the winemaker as they craft their vintage.
You will also sense the deep tie that connects mankind to the earth and the vine, and see how this relationship gives birth to wines that tell the story of a particular year.
