International visitors
Vines are now cultivated in more than 90 countries across the world. It is this diversity and richness which the Cité du Vin offers up for you to discover, through a unique experience accessible to all regardless of their geographical or cultural origins.
Visit companion
You’ll never be alone on your visit to the permanent exhibition: the visit companion, an innovative digital visiting tool designed especially for the Cité du Vin, detects and activates the different multimedia animations along the way. It broadcasts all dialogue synchronised in real time in eight languages:
- French
- English
- German
- Spanish
- Italian
- Dutch
- Chinese
- Japanese
Thanks to cutting edge technology, the visit companion does not merely provide subtitling or voice-overs for original dialogue, but instead offers a route genuinely created and tailor-made for each language offered.
Good to know: the visit companion does not cost any extra, but is instead included in the price of an entry ticket to the Cité du Vin permanent exhibition.
Multilingual spaces
Multicultural and multilingual elements are not restricted to the permanent tour and the visit companion. Throughout the Cité du Vin, you can enjoy the unique experience that is the world of wine in multiple languages.
- The reading room and La Cité du Vin Boutique offer a selection of books and publications in foreign languages.
- Taste a grape variety and discover one of the world’s wines on the Belvedere with tasting comments in English, French or Spanish available on an interactive tablet.
- Experience one of our multilingual tasting and discovery workshops.
- Within the global wine cellar, every bottle comes with a QR code which you can scan to access tasting notes from Andreas Larsson (in English with French, Spanish and Chinese subtitles).
Suitable signage
The signage and dynamic displays throughout the Cité du Vin are systematically presented in three different languages: French, English and Spanish. Reception staff are multilingual and are on hand within the spaces to answer any questions or requests you might have.
